Choose knockdowns with a range of tip materials and shapes. Softer tips are useful where you want a gentler blend, while firmer tips provide more direct correction. A sharp tip can target a precise high, but it is not the right answer for every finish. On softer metal or fresh paint, too much force can mark the surface or create a visible tap pattern.
Use a light, repeatable strike. Let the reflection show you whether the high is reducing. Heavy tapping may appear faster, but it often spreads distortion and creates another correction point. The best results come from small adjustments, checked frequently.
Glue pulling is essential when rear access is limited or impossible. It is particularly useful on double-skinned sections, rails, roof areas, braces and panels where removing trim would take longer than the repair justifies.
